Heaven Looks A Lot Like the Mall, Review

Heaven Looks A Lot Like the Mall by Wendy Mass

Plot: This book was written in verse, which is not the usual style I prefer, but it managed to hook me from the first page. I thought I’d be hung up on the writing style, but it was just told in such a way that made you forget, but was the perfect way to keep the story flowing. A girl named Tessa is hit in the head with a dodgeball in gym class and ends up in the hospital in a coma. She “wakes up” in her coma in the mall where she grew up (her parents both work there) and  a boy with a nail sticking out of his head appears and has a bag of items she’s purchased over the years from the mall.

Although these items seem insignificant at first, each chapter takes you through an item and how she came by it and you are slowly able to piece together Tessa’s life and her family members, friends, and those who are not so friendly.

Would you recommend this book? Yes. I read it in one day. It was quick and enjoyable.
