Little Blog on the Prairie by Cathleen Davitt Bell

Plot: Gen Welsh’s idea of the summer before high school is to relax by the pool with friends, not to go with her family to a Laura Ingalls Wilder camp. However, she reluctantly agrees to go to the camp when her parents offer her a cell phone upon their return. But that’s not soon enough for Gen…she packs the cell phone (in secret) the night before camp, by which she plans to text her friends throughout the trip.

The camp forbids all modern technology. It is the vacationer’s opportunity to relive 1890. The garb is authentic, the food is strictly from the 1890’s, and the participants live in cabins and work in fields.
